Due to technological advances in the electronics and semiconductor industries, there has been large increase in the production of gizmos and electronic gadgets over the last ten years. With more of such affordable electronic gadgets flooding the consumer markets across the world, this phenomenon in turn presents a proliferation of gadget review sites in the World Wide Web.
Gadget Advisor is a new website that offers resource for the best in gadget and tech news. Rather than presenting every bit of news from each day, Gadget Advisor focuses on the products and news that are the most significant, useful, and/or cool so that visitors can quickly view the top gadgets and tech news.
The reviewed items are hand-picked as a "best of the best" resource for computer hardware, software, gadgets, and tech news. Therefore, instead of visitors having to wade through pages of minor updates and other news that is not of interest, the top products and news items are solely presented.
There are five main categories listed as Gadgets, Tech News, Computer Hardware, Computer Software and Featured Articles.
For example, in the Gadgets category, visitors can read cutting edge reviews of network media player and universal remote control - a perfect solution to keep things under central control as we utilize more and more electronic devices in the digital home.
Another example can be seen in Tech News category, where visitors can get expert evaluation of online backup services.

Rock Band Debut
The highly anticipated music game Rock Band has just been officially released here last week – 10 months after the US launch.
While Rock Band 2 on Xbox360 was launched in the US on September 14, music gamers here can only console themselves with the first version. Many expressed their surprise that Rock Band is launching here when the sequel is already out. So much for touting the small local market as the Digital Media Gateway of Asia.
Besides the parallel importers who have been bringing in the game since end of last year, Rock Band will have to compete with rival music game, Guitar Hero World Tour, which will be launched in the next few months.
Rock Band 2 vs Guitar Hero World Tour, so which game is better?
Here’s a video of Rock Band live demo at the recent Games Convention Asia 2008.

Tops In Europe
Cristiano Ronaldo has picked up 2 awards even before he kicked a ball in the new season 2008/2009 of the English Premier League. He was named European Club Footballer of the Year and Best Forward.
Ronaldo aside, it's all Chelsea for the accolades of Europe's best in Best Goalkeeper Petr Cech, Best Defender John Terry and Best Midfielder Frank Lampard.
I never expected one club to dominate and make a near clean sweep of the awards. My earlier prediction of UEFA Club best players in the four positions only got right in John Terry and Cristiano Ronaldo.
What were your predictions? Are they spot on?

The Official Global Chargeback Guide
Often time when we talk about online fraud, most of the attention surrounding the discussion is usually focused on the consumers - either having their credit card numbers stolen by hackers or being suckered into giving their personal and financial information by a phony email phishing scam. But barely any attention has been given to the other side of the coin - the e-commerce merchants who are defrauded by crooks posing as legitimate consumers.
Dishonest consumers normally abuse the chargeback system by making a purchase over Internet with credit card and then issuing a chargeback on receiving the product or service leading to difficulty in recovering payment for merchants. Chargeback is the term given when there is a reversal of a credit card transaction.
Majority of the chargeback cases do happen due to technical problems between the merchant and the issuing bank. For example a consumer was charged twice for same transaction or other such mistakes like authorization process of a Credit Card where transaction is declined by the issuing Bank and the account is still charged. So how do you respond to such “friendly fraud transactions”?
Chargeback levels vary by industry type but have been on a steady accent in the e-commerce industry throughout the years. E-Commerce merchants typically operate in a "card-not-present" environment which is deemed as "high-risk" by default.
It is important to note that in case of chargeback, it is the consumer's bank and NOT your merchant service provider or your bank that decides the outcome of a chargeback.
Being an e-commerce merchant, you should have a set of online transaction security measures put in place, but as good as your chargeback prevention mechanisms may be and despite all the best practices that you may have incorporated into your sales process, every now and again you will still be seeing a chargeback or two sneaking its way through and around your protection. Chargebacks cost money along with the fess and the settlements associated with the credit card transaction and affect the company’s bottom line.
Chargeback Guide - The Official Global Chargeback Guide, is an e-book designed to teach e-commerce merchants the ins and outs of dealing with chargebacks. For only $19.95, (less than the cost of a single chargeback) merchants are able to download this chargeback tutorial which will guide you in the fight against all types of credit card fraud and help you win any future chargebacks.
Chargeback e-book is an effective fraud prevention tools that every online merchant should use to prevent fraud and eliminate chargebacks.

American Express Gift Cards Giveaway Contest
Hank from My Investing Blog dot com is running a contest giving away 3 American Express gift cards for $150, $100, and $50, which are sponsored by Market Leverage.
The winners will be chosen by Random number generator on August 6, 2008 @ 12pm Pacific Standard Time(PST). There are many methods to gain entries in this contest and one of them is to provide a writeup based on the question “If you were given $50,000USD (tax free) today, what would you spend it on?”and post it on our blog.
Well, if I had a windfall of $50,000USD (tax free) today, I would make use of it to fulfill one of my dream. First of all, I would set aside half of it for my kids education fund before I think about how to spend it. As I am kind of risk averse when it comes to investments, I would put the $25,000 in a fix-deposit account. Then I would donate $5000 to a local charity serving the old and poor.
Next I would use a small portion of the money to get a high-end HD camcorder and also budget $10,000 for a 2-weeks tour of Beijing for 2 to experience Summer Olympic Games. I’m sure the HD camcorder will really come in useful to record this once-in-a-lifetime Olympic experience.
After the trip, I’ll use whatever balance amount to pay off my housing mortgage. When the money is all set aside and spent, I’ll get back to real life and STOP dreaming!
It was a good dream while it lasted for the length of this post!
For a full list of methods to gain more entries, check out MIB contest post.

Create Your Free Blog At Thoughts.com
I started blogging two and a half years ago and went through a pretty long and steep learning curve as blogging tools were not as intuitive back then as currently available.
Blogging is not only about writing and sharing your thoughts online. Other than writing, blogging constitute a chain of activities which includes Internet marketing, promoting, networking and basic HTML coding. If we don’t work on the social aspect of blogging, then most of us will be writing in a vacuum and our most likely readers will be our mothers and our cats!
Speaking from my personal experience, I joined many different social networks and actively participate in the community to establish my presence in the World Wide Web. If only there was a free blogging platform with a built-in social networking community back when I started, my learning curve would not be so steep and time consuming.
A new site still in beta, Thoughts.com enables its users to create Free Blog with unlimited bandwidth to upload and share photos, videos, music files and podcasts.
What makes thoughts.com different from other blog platforms, and in my opinion a very important feature especially for newbie bloggers, is the interaction that takes place in their community.
At thoughts.com, you will have an instant audience, commenting, discussing and rating your postings. This feature is essential to keep the ‘fire’ burning and lessen the learning curve in our blogging endeavor.
Thoughts.com free blog system has been developed to make blogging as simple as possible and HTML skills are not required, but at the same time you decide for each blog post if you want it to be public, private, or only viewable by your friends and family Are you ready to share your thoughts?

World Wild Web
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, had said "you CAN" by giving the nod to free up domain names and allow a variety of Web address suffixes, called top-level domain (TLD). Currently the domain-name system consists of more than 20 suffixes, which are generally restricted to labels for countries - .sg for Singapore – and the more familiar .com for commerce and .org for institutional organizations.
Come next year April or May, ICANN will start accepting application for new TLDs and critics fear the World Wide Web may become the World Wild Web because almost any domain extension will then be possible! Expected to be very popular with investors and speculators are TLDs like “.sex”, “.porn”, “.casino”, “.hotel” and really, a nearly infinite variety of extensions beyond yours and my imaginations!
For companies and organizations, this move opens up branding opportunities. Instead of the generic “.com”, they will be able to use their brand names in their Web addresses, for example, “.nike”, “.coke”.
Although this loosening of the network address system is expected to be messy (which new initiative isn’t?), and maybe prone to exploitation by cybersquatters, I’m sure adequate and appropriate mechanisms will be built in to protect trademark holders.
Personally, I’m hopeful that we will begin to see an entire new generation of URLS, making Web addresses more colorful and interesting. Dot Tom, Dick or Harry, anyone?

Petrol Saving Grace
With petrol prices in Singapore (and all over the world) soaring, and the cheaper alternative of enjoying subsidized petrol from our neighbors up north all but evaporated, the time has never been better to use all resources available to lower our car’s petrol consumption. Check out the following websites for tips and other information you can use to save on money on fuel as prices seem to be going up and up!
Petrol Watch – In their own words
Petrol Watch is designed as a community project with an aim to provide information and services to all motorists in Singapore. We know how expensive it can get driving around. Here at Petrol Watch, we seek to enhance the average consumers’ awareness of petrol pump prices, car park prices, car prices and become the de-facto guide which Singaporeans can refer to.
Improving Your Fuel Economy
Many fuel-savings driving tips that many drivers find unnecessary to implement when oil was trading at US$50/barrel will surely come in handy in the current situation. Short of getting rid of your car and switching to public transportation, here are some petrol-savings tips:
Downgrade that petrol guzzling SUV to a smaller model.
Convert your car to be CNG powered or purchase a Hybrid electric type vehicle.
Try to schedule your trips and errands during off-peak hours when traffic is lighter to avoid getting stuck in rush hour traffic jams. While idling, your car gets exactly 0 miles per gallon. Stopping and starting the engine frequently will cause extra wear.
Keep all tires inflated to the pressure as recommended for your car. Allowing them to get too deflated will increase drag and decrease your mileage. Keeping them over inflated will degrade traction and wear the tires rapidly.
Avoid having to stop completely. Look far ahead, if approaching a red light, let up the accelerator earlier to see if you can slow down enough to avoid having to actually stop completely (because you reach the light after it turned green). Speeding up from 5 or 10 miles per hour will be easier on the petrol consumption than starting from full stop.
WikiHow has a lot more practical tips on saving money on petrol.

If There Was No Internet
Market Leverage sponsored contests are all over the net and their promotional marketing campaigns are sure making waves in the blogosphere. Dat Money dot com is also running a contest with prizes sponsored by Market Leverage but Jason, who also owned iBlogtoBlog.com, has made his contest with a creative twist to make it more fun to participate instead of that typical “Please subscribe or write about the contest, blah, blah, blah.” kind.
In order to earn 10 entries to the contest, I’m writing on the topic “If there was no internet, what would you be spending your time doing?”
This is a very interesting topic and a scenario I can’t imagine happening in this age and time. I mean, the Internet is so deeply integrated into our modern lives, from online banking, researching information online, video conferencing, IM chat, blogging, twitter, Facebook etc. Without the Internet, Google probably won’t exist and I’ll not be blogging and entering this Market Leverage Sponsored Contest: Win a iPod, Flip Mino, $200 Gift Card or USB Pen.
But for the contest's sake, lets assume the internet really got shut down....
If there’s no Internet, I would probably care more about the people around me, my surroundings, and the environment at large. I will exercise more and read those books that I always wanted to but never seems to find the time since most of my time during and after office hours is spent in front of a PC on the World Wide Web!
If there’s no Internet, I’ll be forced to call up friends and meet them in person, instead of simply super-poking them on Facebook and/or just seeing their blurry image through IM video chat.
Come to think of it, it’s not such a bad thing after all. Without Internet, life would probably be much simpler like the good old days and relationships will be more personal again.
For a complete list of the different method to gain more entries, check out the contest post.

Euro 2008 Final Review
A solitary goal in the first-half, courtesy of Fernando Torres's pace, perseverance and unerring finish propelled Spain to Euro 2008 glory and ended their 44 year trophy drought in a major tournament. Despite the Germans late onslaught, Spain held on to their lead to spark wild celebrations in Austria's capital.

Euro 2008 Finals Preview
It felt like only yesterday that I started the countdown to the start Euro 2008, and now I'm doing the countdown to the end of Euro 2008.
After nearly 4 weeks of intense football actions, with 30 matches played and 16 teams wilted down to the last 2, it is down to the last match to decide the winner.
Later this evening, pre-tournament favorites Germany will play perennial underachiever Spain. The German efficiency vs Spainish flair, who will win tonight?
After enduring a terrible time during the quarter-finals where only 1 of my 4 predictions came through, I was most glad that both my semi-finals predictions were spot on.
For the final, the Germans have big match temperament and experience but the Spaniards have style and depth in their team. After enduring the hurt of never making it to the finals of a major tournament for 24 years, there's no denying the Spanish this time. I'm backing them to lift the title tonight.

Euro 2008 Semi-Final 2 Result
Spain routed Russia 3-0 in their Euro 2008 semi-final and booked a place in the final for the first time in 24 years.
Spain outplayed, outclassed and outwitted a Russian side who show no glimpse of the scorching form which sent Holland packing home. All three goals came in the second half after David Villa was injured and his replacement, Cesc Fabregas came on to provide the inspiration to turn a cautious stalemate into a slick, joyous rout of the Russians.

Euro 2008 Semi-Final 1 Result
Lady luck was smiling on Germany in their semi-final match against plucky Turkey, which the Germans won 3-2 with a last gasp winner.
Despite missing a host of key players through injuries and suspensions, Turkey was surely the better side on the night and dominate play against Germany. A look at the statistics had Turkey with 15 shots on target against Germany's 5, that tells the story.
But matches are not won or loss based on statistics and in the end the Germans' experience and efficiency shown through with their know-how of doing what was required to edge out opponents.

Euro 2008 Quarter-Finals Review
Earlier, I’ve predicted all 4 group winners Portugal, Croatia, Holland and Spain to progress to the semis. However, other than Spain, the other 3 quarter-finals produced upsets when all 3 group runner-ups upstaged the group winners to progress!
These strange results wreaked havoc to my predictions and threaten to put my dream of being a football pundit at a backburner, not to mention making my wallet feel that much lighter.
The semi-finals matchups are as follows:
Russia vs Spain
The semi-finals are a different ball game and much more difficult to predict as there are no more favorites or underdogs left in the knock-out stage. As a neutral, I would love to see a Russia vs Turkey Finals but my head tells me that dream is quite unrealistic based on current form and unavailability of key players through injuries and suspensions.
With Turkey’s squad being decimated to only 15 players who are fit (injury-free) and eligible to play (suspension-free), the coach has even considered playing reserve goalkeeper as an outfield player! In this regards, Germany (with their strength and experience) will have an advantage over Turkey. But with their triple comeback wins, does anyone dare to write them off?
The other semi-final matchup between Russia and Spain is much tougher to call. Spain had thrashed Russia 4-1 in the first group game and will have a psychological advantage here. But the Russians have since grown in strength and confidence, you should see how they peeled the Oranje apart, anything can happen here. My head says a Spanish victory but my heart goes out to dark horse Russia. I’m going to stick my neck out for a Russia win.

Euro 2008 Quarter-Final 4 Result
With 2 saves by classy Casillas and a deft touch by fabulous Fabregas in the dreaded penalty shoout-out, the Spanish eliminated Wold Champions Italy and set themselves up in the semi-finals of Euro 2008. This win was made all the more sweeter as Spain have not beaten Italy for 88 years since the 1920 Antwerp Olympics.
More importantly, with this victory, they finally broke the jinx of 22 June where on 3 previous major tournaments, they had suffered penalty shoot-out losses on 22 June!
Spain won 4-2 on penalties

Euro 2008 Quarter-Final 3 Result
Dutchman Guus Hiddink guided underdogs Russia to a 3-1 extra-time victory over his countrymen as the Holland crashed out of Euro 2008 in the quarter-finals, earning them an unexpected place in the semi-finals
Russia's Dutch coach Guus Hiddink risks being public enemy number one in his homeland after pulling off his latest masterstroke to eliminate the team who were tournament favourites after emphatic wins over continental heavyweights Italy and France in the 'Group of Death'.

Euro 2008 Quarter-Final 2 Result
Turkey created history by reaching their first European Championship semi-finals by another sensational come-from-behind win over favorites Croatia.
The tense match ended scoreless in regulation time, and Croatia looked to have booked their semi-final place with an extra time in the 119th minute strike only for the never-say-die Turks to equalize with practically the last kick of the game!
Croatia's spirit were broken as they go into penalties to settle the outcome, with them missing two spot kicks before Restu saved to break Croatia's heart and send Turkey into the semis where Germany beckons.

Euro 2008 Quarter-Final 1 Result
The headline said it all, Portugal is OUT! Football fans expected a tense affair with a scored draw or a narrow win for Portugal as the likely result. Who would have expected 5 goals and 2 comebacks, but not quite what Turkey achieved over the Czech Republic. And so, Portugal is first in and first out of the knock-out stage and the German juggernaut advances into the semis.

Euro 2008 First Round Review
Now that all group matches for Euro 2008 have concluded, it is time to tally the actual results against the predictions I’ve made in the Countdown to Euro2008. Those in brackets are my initial predictions.
Group A
Winner: Portugal (Portugal)
Runner-up: Turkey (Czech)
Turkey fought an epic battle with Czech Republic in the Mother of all Comebacks to win over many neutral fans and book themselves a well deserved quarter-final berth.
Group B
Winner: Croatia (Germany)
Runner-up: Germany (Croatia)
For Group B, I predicted the correct teams to go through, except the position was switched. Croatia played intelligent football and won all three group matches to progress into last eight. Pre tournament favorite scraped through a narrow win over co-host Austria to gate crash the quarter-finals party.
Group C
Winner: Holland (France)
Runner-up: Italy (Romania)
My predictions for this Group of death were totally off! A new look Holland team did not self-destruct in the dressing room as in previous tournaments and not only win but win with style over their more illustrious opponents!
Reigning World Champions Italy barely scrap through, only booking their place in the quarter-finals after overcoming an aging French team in the last group game.
Group D
Winner: Spain (Spain)
Runner-up: Russia (Sweden)
Taking Spain to win this easy group is a no brainer. Instead, the rumbling Russians were the surprise package, sending Sweden - whom I've predicted as runner-up, packing home swede home.
The group games are all water under the bridge now. Let’s move on to the Quarter-Finals match-ups and let me gaze into my crystal ball and get my predictions.
Q1 : Portugal vs Germany
My prediction: Portugal
Q2: Croatia vs Turkey
My prediction: Croatia
Q3: Holland vs Russia
My prediction: Holland
Q4: Spain vs Italy
My prediction: Spain
I'm pretty confident my predictions will be spot on in this round. Enjoy the football, and the betting, in the knock-out stages!

Angel of Highway 109
A drunk man in an Oldsmobile
They said had run the light
That caused the six-car pileup
On 109 that night.
When broken bodies lay about
And blood was everywhere,
The sirens screamed out eulogies,
For death was in the air.
A mother, trapped inside her car,
Was heard above the noise;
Her plaintive plea near split the air:
"Oh, God, please spare my boys!"
She fought to loose her pinned hands;
She struggled to get free,
But mangled metal held her fast
In grim captivity.
Her frightened eyes then focused
On where the back seat once had been,
But all she saw was broken glass and
Two children's seats crushed in.
Her twins were nowhere to be seen;
She did not hear them cry,
And then she prayed they'd been thrown free,
"Oh, God, don't let them die!”
Then firemen came and cut her loose,
But when they searched the back,
They found therein no little boys,
But the seat belts were intact.
They thought the woman had gone mad
And was traveling alone,
But when they turned to question her,
They discovered she was gone.
Policemen saw her running wild
And screaming above the noise
In beseeching supplication,
“Please help me find my boys!”
“They're four years old and wear blue shirts;”
"Their jeans are blue to match."
One cop spoke up, "They're in my car,"
“And they don't have a scratch.”
“They said their daddy put them there”
"And gave them each a cone,"
“Then told them both to wait for Mom”
“To come and take them home.”
"I've searched the area high and low,"
“But I can't find their dad.”
"He must have fled the scene,"
"I guess, and that is very bad."
The mother hugged the twins and said,
While wiping at a tear,
"He could not flee the scene, you see,"
"For he's been dead a year."
The cop just looked confused and asked,
"Now, how can that be true?"
The boys said, "Mommy, Daddy came "
"And left a kiss for you."
“He told us not to worry”
"And that you would be all right,"
“And then he put us in this car with”
"The pretty, flashing light."
"We wanted him to stay with us,"
"Because we miss him so,"
"But Mommy, he just hugged us tight "
“And said he had to go.”
“He said someday we'd understand”
"And told us not to fuss,"
"And he said to tell you, Mommy,"
"He's watching over us."
The mother knew without a doubt
That what they spoke was true,
For she recalled their dad's last words, " I will watch over you."
The firemen's notes could not explain
The twisted, mangled car,
And how the three of them escaped
Without a single scar.
But on the cop's report was scribed,
In print so very fine,
“An angel walked the beat tonight on Highway 109.”

Guts or Balls
There is a medical distinction. We've all heard about people having guts or balls, but do you really know the difference between them? In an effort to keep you informed, the definitions are listed below:
GUTS - Is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the guts to ask: ''Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?''
BALLS - Is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the butt and having the balls to say: ''You're next, fatty.''
I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions. Medically speaking, there is no difference in the outcome, since both ultimately result in death.

I Believe
I Believe...
That just because two people argue,
it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do love each other.
I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if
we understand that friends change.
I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt
you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over
the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.
I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.
I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with
loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I Believe...
That we are responsible for what
we do, no matter how we feel.
I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I Believe...
That my best friend and I, can do anything,
or nothing and have the best time.
I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you
when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them and less to do
with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I Believe...
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but, we are responsible for who we become.
I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find
out a secret. It could change your life Forever.
I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same
thing and see something totally different.
I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don't even know you.
I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, when
a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.
I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.
I Believe...
That you should send this to all of the people that you believe in.
"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything.
