Birthdays

April is the Birthday month for my kids. Yes, both of them are born in the month of April! Went to the bike shop to get the birthday presents.

Transport secured, time to go home!

Finally reach home. Gotta hide both set of wheels in the storeroom until the big day!
Stay tune to find out when their actual birthdays are.

Progress @ Q1

In the corporate world, public listed companies are accountable to shareholders for thier financial performances, and one way to announce their figures is through the annual report.

As my blog is also a public property, I've a duty towards my readers who are my stakeholders, and short of holding an AGM or publishing an annual report, I'll publish quarterly report of this blog's progress here.

March has been a hectic month for me on the blogging front, with a record 18 posts published in March. Ever since i started monetization of this blog, i have to start "growing up" in a fast-forward mode, with a steep learning curve as my constant companion.

I entered into a "attract online traffic at all cost" phase and put in a solid 3 hours every week-nights for this purpose. Fortunately, i'm glad to report, I've achieved some minute result in improving my technorati ranking. Before monetization, this blog was ranked 2.9 million with zero links, but by end of March, there were 4 other blogs linked to here and my technorati ranking hit below the 1 million mark. This ranking position is nothing to crow about really, but the speed and the huge jump over the last 3 weeks was phenomenal.

It gave me such motivation to work harder, and most importantly, it shows that if I put my heart and soul into it, with hardwork and focused dedication, I actually can make this work!
One of the project I started was "Free Blog Review" where I will scour the net for interesting blogs and do reviews of those blogs for free, in return for a review exchange or link swap (no free lunch in this world, ok?). Being a newbie in this business, I realise early on that I cannot sit here expecting traffic to just flow in. I've to go out there, do all the 'ground work' in order to create awareness of my existence in the blogsphere.

This post is as much a progress report as is a self reminder that this is only the begining of the journey and I've still got a long and arduous road ahead. Having said that, it is important to recognise that online success is never garaunteed.

I sure as hell got lots to learn, i've not even earn my first dollar from this blog after all the hours put in, but with the friends I've made and the stuffs I've learnt, the journey thus far is worth every single minute i've invested. I hope I have the chance to incorporate my earnings report by the time Q2 comes around.

Last but not least, I want to thank all my subscribers, my readers and all those who have supported and linked to this blog. Keep those comments, feedbacks and/or critics coming in! BLOG ON!!!

Free Blog review #2

This "Free Blog review" campaign with reciprocal link swap, is catching on with bloggers as I've received a few review requests. It'll take me sometime to clear the backlog but it is a happy problem I'll gladly have, anytime.

Today, my free blog review adventure brings me to a beautiful blog titled "TERRI TERRI QUITE CONTRARY". To start with, the picture of big red hibiscus shouted out for attention, but what leaves a deep impression on me is the wonderfully taken photographs that were generously peppered throughout the blog, and coupled with the catchy and infectiously hum-able blog title that keeps repeating in my head the whole time I was reading the blog posts!

Another notable feature of this blog that I must mention, is the absence of online ads! It is totally ad-free! In these days of monetization, where anyone with an internet connection wants to make money online (there are millions of blogs out there cluttered with ads), Terri has defied convention and stayed true to the original spirit of blogging. For that I APPLAUD you.

Terri's blog is unique in that she blogs about her life, her work, her children, summer vacations, home improvement project (boy, I love those psychedelic colors!), and just about anything and everything under the sun. These are events only unique to her and her family, no one can copy (unlike the millions of copy-cat money-making tips readily available) , and no one can take that away from her.

Reading Terri's blog afforded me the sanity I seek in this near-total monetized world of blog.
I've add the links to her blog on my side bar, to remind myself to apply that balance, and also to remind myself what's most important in my life (my family of course).

Terri's blog is so much fun and indeed a breadth of fresh air. Wait no more, don't just base on hearsay from this review, see for yourself how Terri returns to the root of her ancestor! (Hint: picture tells a thousand words)

AGLOCO is not "too good to be true"!

I became a AGLOCO member since March 20, 2007 and I'm glad to report (surprise even) that I've signed up my first downline. Make my fantasy come alive, join my AGLOCO network.

For potential AGLOCO earnings, refer to the Simmons Report.

An AGLOCO official's response to a member's concern that "AGLOCO sounds too good to be true. Why am I getting paid without putting anything into it?", goes like this:

"If being “too good” is our only problem, I think we’re in great shape!

It seems strange to “get something for nothing.” The truth is, you’re not getting something for nothing. You’re giving the Viewbar a small share of your computer monitor, which we (and apparently many advertisers) consider extremely valuable. You are also choosing us as your partner for commissions, referrals, and fees accumulated through everyday browsing. So, instead of some other middleman making this money, AGLOCO makes it. We win, you win, and the advertisers/companies win for getting your business
."

Some useful sites to get you started

AGLOCO company blog - latest developments posted here.

AGLOCO Top Gun - a list of top 10 AGLOCO referrals. This list serve as a motivation for memebrs as well as proof that people are building up their network.

Harold's - this blog did a 5 point anaylsis of the Simmons Report. Alert: Statistics intensive.

Alternate views about AGLOCO

It is my duty not to hide any alternate or negative views (that I know of) the online community had on AGLOCO. Here is a fairly negative article disputing the merit of AGLOCO. Read and make your own judgement.

Never too late to build

Latest news is that the viewbar is slated for release between 2nd - 16th April, so don't wait anymore. Join my AGLOCO network, and starts building yours!

Review Exchange with Jal Kel Daily Dot Com

Today I received a surprise in my gmail inbox. It was an email from Jason Neuman of "JAL KEL DAILY DOT COM", asking me if I'm interested in a review exchange. Interested? I feel more honoured to be invited by a blogger with a PR4 blog and technorati ranking so much higher than this humble blog.

The very first impression his blog gave me was it is very John Chow-resque! Maybe it was the picture of a red Ferrari spider at the top front of his blog, making it seems all too familiar, and his review exchange for link swap bear all the hallmarks of John Chow dot com. Even the title of his blog has a familiar ring to it.

I suspended my judgement and as I continue to read on, I found many useful articles which Jason posted are in fact very helpful for newbie like me, who just started monetizing my humble blog, hoping to make money online. Jason's unique style and personality actually shines through as I read more of his posts and get to know more about his profile and blog.

As Jason proclaimed, he was accepted as a Chitika associate which only accepts sites with minimum of 10,000 monthly page views as one of its criteria, and Jason achieved that feat in less than 2 months!

Any blog which can garner such awesome traffic is not only "not bad", it is totally exceptional!

They Got Me!

In a response to new technologies that have allowed cyber citizens to avoid government censorship efforts, China will tighten controls on internet blogs and webcasts.

The country's extensive Internet censorship system, dubbed the "Great Firewall of China" will combat the rising influence of the Internet as the President called for the medium to be "purified".

In response to this initaitive, media watchdog Reporters without Borders labels China's government an "enemy of the Internet".

Test your website here to see if it's censored in China.

They Got Me!!!

The Importance of BackLinks

Earning a link back from John Chow had provide a major Technorati rank booster and propelled this blog into another stratosphere!

Free Blog review #1

My first free blog review goes to Kelly Cho, who's blog title is "Catching a Falling Star".
Kelly, who goes by Stargaz3r online because she likes looking at stars, is indeed a global citizen, with Japanese/Chinese blood flowing in her, born and bred in Brazil and now residing and working in Los Angeles, California.

I like her blog for being so neat and even with some ads on it, it gave me a clutter-free experience reading her blog. A very refreshing experience for me, considering tons of blogs out there are so cluttered and untidy, it gives me a headache just trying to read their posts!

Kelly started her blog way back in 2002 as a personal blog so that, in her own words "50 years from now, be able to see how I used to think". The blog was only turned public and monetized only recently (just like mine). She blogs about her pet subjects, travel & real estate, and of course, how to make money online.

Do drop by Kelly's blog and offer her a comment two. We blogger must support fellow blogger.
