DeepaRaya in Mid-Autumn?

Night time Singapore is dazzling with bright lights as, for the first time, street light-ups of 3 major ethnic festivals, Deepavali, Hari Raya and Mid-Autumn festival, coincide in October.

In Chinatown, lanterns hang overhead in celebration of Mid-Autumn festival, or Mooncake festival which falls on 6 Oct.

Colorful, glittering lights in the shape of peacocks decorate the streets of Little India in preparation for Deepavali on 21 Oct.

Over at Kampong Glam and Geylang Serai, neon crescents and stars adorned the streets for the coming Hari Raya Adilfitri holiday on 24 Oct.

Normally, the Mid-Autumn festival falls in September with Deepavali being celebrated in either October or November. But thanks to a leap seventh month in the Chinese Lunar calender this year, the Mid-Autumn festival occurs one month later than usual.

The trio of festivities were completed with the coincidence that Hari Raya, which falls in a different month each year, happening in October this year.

Hindu and Muslim festival happening in "mid-autumn"? This could only happen in Singapore...
