The Rise of The Phoenix

The "Phoenix" painted in Chilean colors of red, white and blue, was lowered and raised for the 33rd time and the last miner was rescued from the San Jose mine in Chile after being trapped 700m underground for 70 days!

33 men resurfaced one after another, in a 22 hours rescue operation.

We lived in less than heroic times and the miners have been our teachers through their ordeals. Their old-fashioned heroism had taught us to keep the faith, staying the course, not losing hope. The rescuers lifted them from their underground "hell" one by one, but truly, it was they who had lifted an entire nation, and the world beyond.

I cried when they brought them to the surface, it was a very touching moment. And also the fact that so many presidents from around the world called the Chilean president to congratulate him. I think these moments give back your faith in humanity.

Can't imagine what it must have been like for those miners. Was extremely happy when they got them out of there.
