Search Engine Marketing - win a Wii Promotion

Taking a page out of the evil dot com mogul's book, Darin Carter, the Search Engine Marketing guru, is holding a review promotion, where you can get some linklove and also stand a chance to win a Nintendo Wii. Yes, you heard it right, a free Nintendo Wii!

All you have to do is post a minimum 225 words review of his blog linking to his homepage with the Anchor text "Search Engine Marketing". Then email him with the URL of your review post and your preferred Anchor text which you want him to use to link back to your site. Then sit back, and wait for June 11th where he'll hold the lucky draw live on webcast!

Darin Carter is a Marketing Director and he created Darin.CC to educate the public about Search Engine Marketing, SEO, Advertising, Marketing and anything else he is in the mood for.
If you Googled his name "Darin Carter", you will get the search result on the first page. Now Darin wants to get onto Google page one with "Search Engine Marketing", hence, his required anchor text for this Review for link back + Nintendo Wii contest.

Darin CC uses a clean 3 column layout, mostly peppered with Google Adsense ads. The blog's layout design is uncluttered with the usual suspect of ReviewMe ad and Text Link ad banner all in their rightful place, and is easy to navigate. Most of the the posts are written byDarin, with some posted by guest bloggers. Readers must have a basic understand and some interest in heavy topics like SEO, SEM and PPC in order to enjoy his posts. I for one find his posts on those subjects leaning towards the "heavy-to-digest" side.

Whoever you are, or whatever stage of your career you are at, so long as you are looking for a job, or to build up a career or start a business, then you gotta check out Career Ramblings. The site's tagline "Your Professional Development: steps to a successful future" pretty much sums up the focus ofthis site.

A quick intro
Career Ramblings is authored by John Anthony and Jane May who have come together to write about their experiences in Corporate America and life in general. They bring to the table an interesting mix of knowledge and experience in hopes of creating an environment where everyone can learn from each other through their posts and readers comments.
They are both successful professionals in their own rights and with such vast experience in their background, readers can rest assured that their ramblingsare not empty talk, they mostly speak (in this case, write) from their own experiences.

From reading some of the articles posted on this site, I feel their target audience can be categorized into 3 main target group, namely:

1. Fresh graduate in transition phase between end of school life and start of work like:
- Graduating from College Sucks, You Have Debt!
- Tips For a Successful First Year on the Job

2. Seasoned Professionals:
- 6 Resume Tips for Seasoned Professionals
- Writing a Formal Propposal

3. Entrepreneurial type who want to start their own business:
- How to Start Your Own Business Today!
- Want Free Publicity For Your Business?

If you think Career Ramblings must be a very technical site which only focus on topics about career development, then you are wrong. Other interesting articles can be found, but I'll leave it for you to find out. They even post their answers to readers' questions on the site, sharing their in-depth analysis and offering tips and options for tricky problems.

Career Ramblings has recently received a PageRank of 6 from Google which is considered a great ranking for high quality and high authority web sites. If you own your own web site or business, it can be very valuable for you to receive a link from a Page Rank 6 site

Get Your Blog Rated and Reviewed

My humble blog got a brief review from BlogRaters.com, which is a blog designed to review and
rate your blog, for free. In exchange, they ask for a linkback.

The entire site in Blog Raters is about reviews, reviews and more reviews, nothing else!
The reviews are filed into various categories, from Blogging, to Investment, to Sports and
there's even a category on Venture Capital. So you can imagine their reviews covers a wide range of subjects.

Get Your Blog Rated and Reviewed
As the name implies Blog Raters review and rate blogs in exchange for linkback. Blog raters will review almost anything other then sex sites and the like. So if you have a blog about watching grass grow, they will review it. It would probably be filed as "Uncategorized". All you have to do is shoot them an e-mail at Blograters@gmail.com and within a few days they will have a review posted.

You can write an article reviewing this site or write one talking about how you were recently
reviewed by them, which is what I'm doing now . If you have another idea go ahead and do that instead. But if you request to have your site to be reviewed, spread them some link love.

Review Lifewg for Backlinks

Lifewg (Life with Google), hosted by Jack, is offering 3 free backlinks from his 3 blogs, 2 of which have PR3 rankings, to any blogger who review his blog with at least 200 words. He admitted he got this link bait idea from John Chow dot com, but is doing it with a slight twist.

Through his blog, Jack offers tips and tricks (in the context of Google services) on how to make money on the internet. His post here offers some good fun tips on what to do should your Google Adsense account get disabled. In case the unthinkable happens to you one fine day, it should not be the end of the world, but you should follow Jack’s advise and do this and make an appeal to Google Adsense Support who will then re-review again your site and their log data base of their Google Adsense Algorithm. But according to Jack, usually, 99.99% of the time, the answer is still "You Are Banned!"

Before you accidentally let the unthinkable really happen to your account, it is good to know why others got banned and how to take good care of your Adsense account.

Lifewg was just started about a month ago, besides those posts about Adsense mentioned here, other interesting tips about blogging can be found, I'll leave it for you to explore for yourself.
The blog is mainly text based, with very little photos and zero videos in the blog posts. The only photos available are those of Kumiko, which makes Jack a big fan of her, I think.

April Reflection, Recharge for May & Beyond

The first day of a new month, I wanna take a pause and recap April's activities on this blog.

An exciting and eventful month of April has just concluded, cummulating and climaxing with the beginning of the long awaited Google Pagerank update. Thanks to all the link love from fellow bloggers, this blog got a PR2 ranking. Thanks everyone!!!

PR Checker

The link love have come from my "review exchange and link swap" campaign started in March, but most of all, I must attribute the huge part Technorati Fave train played in attaining my current ranking. This online train was very very successful, helping many of its pioneers reach the Technorati Top 100 ranking. At the end of April, this train had sent this blog to rank under 52,000 and favourited by 148 Technorati members.

At the end of March, my technorati ranking was in the region of 1.8 million, now this update above is a classic example of the importance of back links. So hop onto this super-charged online train if you haven't and get on with the Fave exchange and reciprocal link swap by clicking

Mini Blog Reviews - Batch 2

In this second instalment of mini blog reviews, I'll review 3 blogs which I've come across. Not in random order, here goes my review:

Sarah over at "Somewhere Over the Debt - A girl's Journey to Make Money Online" started the blog to share her efforts of creating multiple streams of income and her journey towards being debt free. With her ninja marketing skills and web design skills, she had set out to make a living making money online so that she can be free to live life on her own terms and be in control of her finances.

The blog's header graphic depicts the blog title with 3 doves flying pass a 6-colors rainbow.
Why only 6 colors? Shouldn't a rainbow have 7 colors? Well, my best guess is that once Sarah becomes debt free from her online money making venture, the 7th colors will appear! Seeing this picture coupled with the title, reminds me of the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

Sarah is a single mom, a graphic/wed designer, musician and online marketing ninja, all rolled into one beautiful package. She is available for freelance design projects like web design, blog design, print projects and so on. Visit her portfolio at Stellar Creative Studio.

Next up, we 'travel' to Malaysia to uncover some "hidden conspiracies".
There is nothing freaky about "Hidden Conspiracies", which is a blog started by a guy from a city called Miri, in Sarawak, to make money on the Internet. This blog is inspired by Darren Rowse at problogger.net and is where he documents his journey to make money as a problogger and other various means to achieve his goal to be a millionaire before he reaches 30 years old.
most of the blog post are either about his journal and money making ideas. So, if you are interested to find out about making money online, please do stop by.

Our last stop for this mini review bring us to India, where a 17 year old boy will show us many tips and tricks of blogging via his blog, "I Blog - You Blog". I first stumble on this blog in March and got really interested with his blog post "Extremely effective way of blogging" where he posted a step-by-step tutorial with screenshots, of using voice recognition tool for blogging! What a cool idea!

I was very impressed by his strong knowledge in blogging, considering his tender age. His blog is ads-free, a rare find nowadays, where every blogs in the blogosphere seems to be monetized.
He is in the process of changing his blog to a new template and he had promised his new template, when completed, will be damn sexy. Check it out for yourself and prepare to be impress.

Get free linkback from PR5 blog

Blogging Secret is a blog that helps you make money online. The owner is offering to link to your blog if you review his blog.

To get a free link back from this PR5 blog, blogger must review his blog with a minimum 200 words post. That is quite unfair considering he just link back to the blog post of the review on one of his post without reciprocating by doing a review. But who the hell am I to judge what's fair and what's not? Since his PR ranking is higher than mine, technorati ranking higher than mine and earning real money from his blog, I need his link love!

The blog owner, Louis Lim, is an undergraduate student in Bachelor Of Business Administration(hons) at University Tunku Abdul Rahman. He professed to be a Malaysian Full-Time Blogger. Looks like this brudder from across the Causeway had discovered the secret to becoming a six-figure-income blogger. Is he a full time blogger or a full time student? That I'm not sure but the English used on his blog posts is very localised and at time funny. International readers may not be able to decipher some of his local jokes.

This blog is using 3 column kubrick theme now and to be honest, i find the info on the sidebar layout very uneven to the point of being messy. I can't imagine how it will look if Louis started using the 4 column kubrick theme!

Review Exchange with Jal Kel Daily Dot Com

Today I received a surprise in my gmail inbox. It was an email from Jason Neuman of "JAL KEL DAILY DOT COM", asking me if I'm interested in a review exchange. Interested? I feel more honoured to be invited by a blogger with a PR4 blog and technorati ranking so much higher than this humble blog.

The very first impression his blog gave me was it is very John Chow-resque! Maybe it was the picture of a red Ferrari spider at the top front of his blog, making it seems all too familiar, and his review exchange for link swap bear all the hallmarks of John Chow dot com. Even the title of his blog has a familiar ring to it.

I suspended my judgement and as I continue to read on, I found many useful articles which Jason posted are in fact very helpful for newbie like me, who just started monetizing my humble blog, hoping to make money online. Jason's unique style and personality actually shines through as I read more of his posts and get to know more about his profile and blog.

As Jason proclaimed, he was accepted as a Chitika associate which only accepts sites with minimum of 10,000 monthly page views as one of its criteria, and Jason achieved that feat in less than 2 months!

Any blog which can garner such awesome traffic is not only "not bad", it is totally exceptional!
